Rather than asking “why” questions that keep you stuck in justifications and reasons without changing anything, a curious person will ask “how” questions that lead to solutions.

“How can I come with creative solutions to this situation?” rather than “Why does this always keep happening to me?”. Instead of asking “Why didn’t I get that promotion?” ask yourself “How can I shift my focus to the value I add to this company and creatively add even more value?”. Remember that whatever you focus on GROWS BIGGER QUICKLY. It’s your choice.

Children learn very quickly because of their spirit of curiosity. When you assume you close doors to creative thinking and solutions. When you are curious you open doors, all possibilities, a true “thinking out of the box” experience.

Curiosity leads to a fascination for all things and experiences in life. Webster’s dictionary defines fascination as “to captivate”. What would need to shift within you to begin seeing all of life through the eyes of fascination and curiosity? How would it effect how you respond to those around you? Who perhaps “trigger” you in some way? How would you feel different inside when things don’t turn out the way you “assume” they should? Can you imagine what it would be like if you could maintain this spirit of curiosity and fascination even in the midst of a verbal attack from another human being? Instead of shrinking back and believing that you are what he/she says you are, or throwing back an equally charged response, you now have the ability to remain in a place of empowerment and inner calm, completely connected to the creative energy that flows from a curious perception of the situation. You would have an inner whisper “Hmmm…Isn’t that interesting? I wonder where they came up with that perception?” What part of this is true for me and what part isn’t?” You always have the ability to speak your truth with kindness.

Remember you can’t always choose what unfolds before you, but you CAN always choose your response to it. Choose curiosity and fascination this week and watch how your world expands and your relationships grow (including the one you have with yourself). The inner dialogue can become quite humorous.
