Go for Less Stress in the New Year
So I recently went in for my 14th surgery on January 4th 2012 to remove some growths on my uterus: HAPPY NEW YEAR! I was given once again the opportunity to practice living out one of my favorite mantras: Everything is sent in life to make us fearless! I repeated this one several times as the nurse tried to find my chemo-damaged vein. I was blessed this time it only took 2 hits, it usually takes about 6.
Stress is a signal within your body giving you the opportunity to identify and adjust your perception of ANY situation in life. So I decided to use my recent surgery to practice being fearless, to look for opportunities to connect with those people around me who are trying to help me in life. One thing is for sure, if I want to walk on top of water in this life my choice of focus is essential for that to happen. My RAS (Reticular Activating System, part of the brain responsible for behavioral motivation) is waiting for me to program it daily and whatever I choose to focus on my RAS jumps into action like a radar beam, tuning into that which backs up or supports my focus.
As I sat in my doctor’s office before the surgery looking at these growths in my uterus I could have made the choice to focus on this: “HOLY CRAP, my body is betraying me again, THE CANCER IS BACK and I’m doomed.” Instead I remember saying, “Well, I knew my body was trying to tell me something so let’s clean it out.” I was confident that it was not cancerous and I was right. Now there was a time when I thought the same thing and it was cancerous, which led to a ton of opportunities to identify and adjust my perception around the healing I wanted my body to embrace, I remember saying this mantra: “Even though the white coats told me I have cancer, I am willing to believe that my body can heal. I have had the opportunity to witness God’s healing within me the first time I skinned my knee and I watched it heal in less than a week. I put full confidence in how God created me and give my body permission to heal and restore. My body has healed numerous times throughout my life and I am willing to believe it can do it again.”
So, as this New Year unfolds before you, I encourage you to JUMP IN, remember that love floats and negative thinking sinks, your choice of focus makes ALL of the difference in the outcome. I continue to find myself with amazing opportunities to practice this and it’s the real deal, if you focus on the waves in your life you will sink. When you focus on your God given strength to overcome, you will rise up and walk, even run through some of life’s greatest storms. Remember everything in life is sent to help you remember the Fearless Spirit that God has breathed into your being. One that does not shrink back from perceived threats in life but One that remembers it’s inner strength and power to move through all of life, at times feeling the fear and going for it anyway, who knows itself to have already made it, who knows itself to be enough just as it is and remembers its ability to heal, restore, rise up and say YES to the voice of Inner Inspiration. Remain flexible and curious, release your attachments and assumptions of how things need to be in order to know yourself as loved and accepted, then you can offer this gift to the world around you and light up the world in 2012!
